Thematic content / learning objective:

Introduce a new topic with a question. Present arguments and counter-arguments, defend and justify your opinion. Comment on a statistic. State the consequences of an issue. State advantages and disadvantages. // Reject a proposal and give reasons. Responding to the dialogue partner. Taking the mickey out of someone. Being ironic. Reminding someone of a promise made but not kept. Expressing preferences. Recounting an embarrassing experience. Giving advice. Expressing assumptions. Talking about your own behaviour in certain situations.

Grammar:

The concessive clause: sebbene, nonostante, malgrado, benché + congiuntivo. Anche se + indicativo. Irregular comparative and superlative forms. Fare + Infinitive. The si construction for reflexive verbs (ci si). The mica. The condizionale passato (retrospection in the past). The potential conditional clause.

Course content and learning objectives for all levels

The learning objectives and grammar content listed are for guidance only. They represent an average programme that can be handled within a course of 20 units of 45 minutes each. The lecturer will decide how far the programme can be extended or deepened based on the level and other characteristics of their class and their personal teaching style. The intensity of the grammatical exercises as well as the speaking exercises using role play and listening exercises based on dialogues on CDs and videos can vary from group to group.
